Understanding Soil Fertility and Biology for Production and Conservation

Learn how to manage the fertility of your soil and the organic matter within it.

Topics will include:

  • the fundamentals of soil biology, fertility, and pH
  • managing the nutrients in your soil
  • cultivating organic matter over time
  • real-life farm scenarios
  • the cost of managing your soil organic matter — and the cost of NOT managing it
  • how to employ specific NRCS-approved conservation practices to improve your soil and enhance production

Arrive at 7:30am to sign in and meet with other farmers. Workshop begins promptly at 8:00am.

    This workshop has been funded through a USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service Cooperative Agreement within Up in Farms.

    The workshops are designed for farmers at all levels of experience.
  3. Will someone be there to help my farm if I need additional assistance?
    Yes! Staff from Up in Farms and NRCS are available to provide you free farm visitations and technical assistance.
