Crop Rotation Theory and Practice

From The Piney Woods School Workshop Series

WHAT is a crop rotation system and WHY is it important to your farm?

Topics will include:

  • the fundamentals of good soil management
  • using rotations for natural pest management
  • using rotations for weed control
  • using rotations for disease management
  • theories of crop rotations
  • practical scenarios for rotations explored
  • including cover crops in your rotations
  • using NRCS-approved conservation practices to enhance production

Arrive at 9am to sign in and meet with other farmers. Workshop begins promptly at 9:30. Lunch will be served!

    This workshop has been funded through a grant to The Piney Woods School through the Natural Resource Conservation Service within USDA.
  2. Do I have to pay for lunch?
    No. Lunch is provided courtesy of The Piney Woods cafeteria.
  3. I’m a beginning farmer. Is it okay if I attend?
    The workshops are designed for farmers at all levels of experience.
  4. Will someone be there to help my farm if I need additional assistance?
    Yes! Staff from Up in Farms and NRCS are available to provide you free farm visitations and technical assistance.
